5 Practical Ways to Stay Connected to God When Life Gets Busy
Life is busy. It’s an undeniable fact. Whether you’re juggling work, school, or family responsibilities, your days can feel like they’re flying by in a whirlwind. In the midst of all the hustle and bustle, it can be challenging to stay connected to Jesus. You want to be on fire for Him, to grow in your relationship with Him, but your to-do list seems never-ending.

Girl, I see you! I’m right there with you, navigating the same chaos. But here’s the good news: God is not far from you, even when life gets crazy. Sometimes, it feels like we’re drifting away, but in reality, He’s right there, waiting for us to slow down and spend time with Him. Romans 8:38-39 reminds us that nothing—no schedule, no busyness—can separate us from the love of God.

So, how do you stay connected to God in the middle of all this busyness? How do you nurture your faith when life feels overwhelming? Here are five simple, yet powerful ways to stay close to Jesus, even when life gets hectic.

Give God the First 10 Minutes of Your Day
The way we start our day has a massive impact on how the rest of it unfolds. If we begin our mornings with a rush, stressed out about the demands of the day, we often carry that tension with us. But when we start our day with God, inviting Him into our schedule, we create space for His peace and presence to guide us.
Psalm 143:8 says, “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.”
Before you dive into the busyness, take just 10 minutes to be with God. Open your Bible, read a few verses, and pray. Yes, 10 minutes may require you to set your alarm a bit earlier, but it’s a small sacrifice for the peace it brings. Doesn’t God deserve at least a fraction of our day?
This simple habit can transform your mornings and set the tone for a day filled with God's presence. It’s in these moments of quiet that you will find clarity, strength, and a deeper love for Jesus.
Listen to Truth Throughout Your Day

In today’s world, we have access to endless information at our fingertips. But how much of it is leading us closer to God? Instead of filling our minds with mindless noise during our daily tasks, why not fill them with God’s truth?
Listening to worship music, sermons, or faith-filled podcasts is an easy way to invite Jesus into your everyday life. Whether you're commuting, exercising, or doing household chores, you can use these moments to connect with God.
Romans 10:17 tells us, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.”
So, make it a habit to listen to content that builds your faith.
Consider playing worship music while you’re getting ready in the morning, or tuning in to a podcast during your workout. Leverage those otherwise idle moments to draw closer to Jesus.
Fill Your Home and Workspace with Scripture
One of the easiest ways to stay focused on God’s truth is to keep it in front of you—literally! Write down Bible verses and post them in places you frequent, such as your bathroom mirror, I use these mirror markers, refrigerator, or desk at work. Seeing these reminders throughout the day can help re-center your thoughts and focus your heart on Jesus.

Deuteronomy 6:6-9 encourages us to keep God’s Word close: “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts… Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” By placing scripture in visible locations, you’ll be reminded of God’s promises as you go about your day. These biblical declarations of your identity are also a great thing to write and post.
This can be a fun and creative project! Use colorful sticky notes or beautiful printouts to add a bit of flair to your space. Switch up the verses every so often to keep things fresh. Whether it’s a verse about God’s peace, love, or guidance, having these reminders can keep you grounded in the truth during your busiest days.
Be an Intentional Prayer Warrior

Prayer is our direct line of communication with God. It’s an opportunity to bring our worries, praises, and requests to Him. Ephesians 6:18 tells us to “pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.” But how can we possibly pray without ceasing when life is so busy?
The key is to make prayer a natural part of your day. You don’t need to carve out hours of time to have meaningful conversations with God. Instead, sprinkle short prayers throughout your day. You can pray while you’re driving, while you’re cooking, or while you’re on a break at work.

A fun way to remind yourself to pray is by creating small “prayer triggers.” For example, every time you switch on a light, you can pray for someone who’s struggling. Or, every time you hop into your car, take a moment to thank God for His blessings. These small moments of intentionality can help you stay connected to Him, even in the midst of a hectic schedule.
Learn to Say “No” So You Can Say “Yes” to God
This one might be the hardest. We live in a culture that glorifies busyness. We often equate productivity with worth, and before we know it, our schedules are overflowing. But here's the truth: if you’re too busy to spend time with God, you’re too busy.

In Matthew 11:28, Jesus invites us to find rest in Him, saying, “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Sometimes, staying connected to Jesus means saying “no” to things that drain your time and energy, so you can say “yes” to the things that matter—like time with God.

Take a moment to assess your schedule. Are there commitments that are pulling you away from your relationship with God? Are there activities that, while good, may not be God’s best for you right now? Learning to prioritize your time is essential to staying connected to Jesus. Say “no” to the things that overwhelm you so you can say “yes” to a deeper relationship with Him.
Final Thoughts: God Over Busyness
At the end of the day, life is always going to be busy. There will always be things vying for your attention. But the most important thing—the thing that will sustain you through all the busyness—is your connection to God. Colossians 3:23 reminds us, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Whatever season you’re in, whether slow or busy, make it your goal to stay rooted in Christ.

Remember, God’s grace is abundant. He knows the demands on your life, and He’s not asking for perfection—just a willing heart. So, give yourself grace, and lean into Jesus. He is your strength, your peace, and your rest, no matter how busy life gets.
Stay connected, sister, and watch how God transforms your heart and your life, one busy day at a time.
